Beauty Box By BeachMint

In the craze of beauty boxes I decided to try tow new ones. The first was this Beauty Box from BeachMint and the second one is the MyGlam beauty bag. I already receive Birchbox and I'm beginning to think that it's too much money for Birchbox for what I actually use from that box. I saw the review for MyGlam for the December box and I thought that was a pretty good deal because they received 2 full size items. I hope it continues that way.

Anyway, Beauty Box from BeachMint is a little different. First, I'm not sure if this is a monthly box, or every couple of months or a one time deal thing. I'll have to find out. Second, this box was $29.00 as oppose to the $10 boxes a month. Granted, that this box does have all full size items so the $29 is not too bad. I received it and to my surprise it Ok. According to the retail value it can be up to $164.00. I don't think it's that much but it is more than $29.00.

I received full sizes of Josie Maran a lipgloss, LA Fresh Healthy Hand Sanitizer wet wipes and Waterproof Makeup Remover Wipes (both are retail $16.00), Mama Mio O Mega Shower Cream, Weleda Wild Rose Moisture Cream (retail about $27.00), Go smile on the go Pen, Cotoure Colour Oil Treatment, Too Face Glamour Gloss, 1 Borba Skin Balance Aqua Less Crystalline, Small Nivea Creme with Rhianna on the cover, Per-fekt Brow Gel and what looks like a key chain with hair scrunchies.

I really want to try the Rose Cream, the Brow Gel and the Josie Maran lip Gloss. I guess it's not a bad price but not sure if I would try it again.

Review Revlon PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer

I love primers and I can't get enough of my favorite one, Loreal's Magic Perfecting Base. The only downside to Magic Perfecting Base is that it's in pot form and if you have any type of nails your bound to get product into or on top of your nails plus it's not that sanitary. But hey, I can handle all that because I love that primer and it works for my skin type. I'm a fan of the Revlon Photoready foundation and with all the new photoready stuff coming out I wanted to try this one. I already love the mousse foundation. There were two primers to chose from the perfecting one and the color correcting one. I need color corrector because I have shallowness and redness to my skin.

According to Revlon.com: Lightweight primer smoothes skin while evening out skin tone with color correcting pigments that neutralize redness and uneven color. Wear alone or under foundation.
The Good:
  • It has a pump
  • It does correct redness and makes the skin flawless
  • It covers big pores
  • It has a pinkish/purple tint that blends seamlessly with the skin
  • You only need 1 pump for your whole face
  • I think it can work with any skin type
  • It's lightweight
The Bad:
  • It's about $14.99

As you can see I really don't see anything bad to this product except the price. But even that, you can get when they are BOGO and use a coupon so it's worth it. I think it's a good alternative to Loreal's Magic Perfecting Base if you find it too thick especially for oily or combo skin. I've been using this for 2 weeks and it did not break out my skin. I will use Magic Perfecting Base in the Winter and cooler months and Revlon will be my staple for the summer and hotter months. In my pics you can see the color pinkish/purple and how dry my hand is. In the next pic I blended it and my dryness is gone. You can see where I did not blend on purpose where the eyeliner is so that you can see the difference it made on my skin. By the way that eyeliner I was testing for durability and dang it's stayed on forever, it is the ELF waterproof eyeliner pen.

New Revlon Makeup

I saw this display at Walgreens and was excited because I am a fan of their Age Defying foundation. It has very little shimmer which I never like on any foundation but it's minimal and you can usually cover it with setting powder. This compact will make a perfect addition to the foundation by giving that flawless finish. The powder also looks like it might work as a powder foundation but if I see it at my local CVS I will try to review it.

Review Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Lipstick

I'm a sucker for cute packaging and anything pink, include some hearts and I'm there especially with makeup. I have the PF Happy blush and I like the color payoff and it does make me happy to put it on. What caught my eye on this packaging was that it says luminous color + lip boosting effect. I'm not sure what lip boosting means but OK I'll give it a try. There were two colors a pink and nude and I chose the nude. This is what the back of the box says:

Look Happy! Gives lips a boost of Happy Color
Rich color glides on with luminous shine and all day comfort for a happy glow.
Lip boosting formula with collagen boosting peptides smoothes lips so the look plump, healthy and luscious.
Three complementary shades blend together for a kiss of glowing color to boost your mood.

Feel Happy! Experience the Mood Boosting Effect
Infused with our Happy Boost Blend featuring Happy Skin and Euphoryl, natural plant extracts which have been shown to promote a feeling of happiness by mimicking the effect of endorphins and helping protect the skin from environmental stress.
The sweet scent and flavor of Violet provides a feeling of joy each time you apply.

Well that was a mouthful. So, not only does it plump the lips with peptides it actually boosts my mind with endorphins and the Violet smell will make me happy as well. WOW heck yes, I want to try this wonderful lipstick. OK here is the review

The Good:

  • The packaging is the cutest I've ever seen and the marketing strategy is genius.
  • This is Hypoallergenic and Paraben Free.
  • There are two shades a pink one and a nude one
  • The heart on the lipstick makes me happy.
The Bad:
  • The color is suppose to be nude when it's actually a bright pink coral shade.
  • The texture is horrible it's suppose to plump up the lip and upon first application it felt chalky.
  • If you have dry lips Stay Away from this, it will accentuate dryness on the lips.
  • Upon second application it felt more smooth but the texture is still bad.
My verdict is for you to stay away from this and not purchase it at all. I tried applying this with lip balm to see if it would work and it did not. The pictures are the best that I could take and the last one seems like it is moisturizing but it's not. The color reminds me of what a grandma would wear, bright pink coral that just makes her lips look 100 times worse. It was suppose to make me feel happy and I'm not happy. I'm mad at PF right now. I purchased two new items and both were bad. This will be going back and I might try one of their new mineral wear powders and see if I have better luck there.
