New Book Review

Kiss of the Rose (The Tudor Vampire Chronicles, #1)Kiss of the Rose by Kate Pearce

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I like the premise of Vampires in Tudor England. I also like how the author explains the Druids and the Vampire Slayers. Druids protect vampires and Christopher is one of them. Rosalind is a vampire hunter and has to join forces with Christopher in order to find out who is trying to kill Henry VIII and why. Of course the Druids and the Llewellyn's (Vampire Slayers) do not like each other. One is sworn to protect the vampires and the other to kill them. Christopher and Rosalind have chemistry and I like that Christopher was right to the point with her and was not one of those alpha males who take forever in the book to declare his love. I can't wait to read the next one.

I have been loving my recent Avon purchase. I decided to try the new Healthy Makeup lipsticks. I picked out Cocoa Gleam. Cocoa Gleam to me is a beige pink. It's the perfect beige pink for me, I love it. It goes on smooth and does not dry out my lips. It does have a slight fruity smell but goes away and does not linger.
It is so smooth on my lips and it lasts.

I also decided to purchase the new Limited Edition 24K gold lip gloss. I purchased two 24k Pink and Simply Gold. On the tube you can see the gold glimmer. They are not chunky glitter but just a subtle amount and looks gorgeous on top of Cocoa Gleam. My favorite is Cocoa Gleam and 24k Pink. These are LE and you bet I'll be purchasing more.

Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer

I was at CVS yesterday and noticed the Maybelline Dream Mousse concealer. I had been wanting to try it but my color was always sold out. I found one hiding in the back of another color (good thing I looked) and took it. I picked color 4.0 beige. I'm not a fan of the dream mousse foundation so I did not think this was going to be good either. To my suprise this is really good. The texture might be wierd to some people but it's the same texture as the foundation. It's light and fluffy. I was skeptical about putting it on my dark circles but found it works amazingly well. I thought it would settle on those pesky little lines I have but it blended like butter. It was also good on a pimple on my chin. I also like that the pot is easy to use. I use it with the Dream Matte Powder and it has good staying power. Overall a good buy especially if it's on sale. What do you think? Does it work for you?

Book Review

Wicked BurnWicked Burn by Beth Kery

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Although this book has very erotic scenes I find it hard to believe that a woman would sleep with a man who she has met the first day. Granted she's seen him before (he's her neighbor) but still. Ok once I got over that, the book was pretty good. The story line was different and I liked it. Niall goes for what she wants and is not one to say no, she actually likes it. Although Vic was annoying at times for being such a hard ass it was still a good book. I read it in 2 days. I would probably read more from this author.

Serious Colour FER Beaute Kits

I was excited to receive this foundation kit from Serious Skin Care. I was not sure what color to buy. I'm an NC40 but I have reddish cheeks (sensitive skin) and yellow undertones. I can wear different foundation colors but I have to try them on and see how the wear throughout the day. I apologize for the pictures. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COLORS MIGHT BE A LITTLE OFF THIS CAN BE DUE TO YOUR COMPUTER MONITOR AND THE LIGHTING THAT I USED TO TAKE THE PICS. It's raining in Sunny CA and I wanted to get this up so that you can can compare colors if you are torn between the medium and tan kit. I will put better pics up once it stops raining. I applied this kit after moisturizing and using primer on my skin which I think makes a HUGE difference on color payoff and texture. Plus remember you can always buy this kit and return it if you don't like it. Everyone's skin, texture and color is different so what may work for you may not work on someone else.

I received the medium kit first. I was glad to see the powder foundation had yellow undertones. I would describe it as medium with yellow undertones. The powder is pretty finely milled and I can see wearing this powder without the liquid foundation. Next I opened the liquid foundation which also have yellow undertones. It is truly a medium color but with yellow undertones. The concealer stick is light and is very creamy and I say light and medium tones would be able to use this concealer. The coverage is good and buildable.

The Tan kit. The Powder foundation is Tan but I would describe it as a true beige color. While the medium had a yellow undertone the Tan has a slight peachy undertone but is true to being beige. People with tan or olive complexion can wear this powder foundation. The foundation in Tan has definitely a peach undertone to it. The concealer is beige and is darker than the light with beige undertones.
Review:I wore the medium kit yesterday and I have to say I really like the whole kit. The foundation glides on easily and covers well without having to apply a lot of product. I used a regular foundation sponge. The concealer is very creamy and was OK on my under eye circles. I still have to put on Eve Pearl peach corrector over it. BTW (Eve Pearl Peach corrector ROCKS I will never be without it, a little expensive but a little goes a long way and it really does cover, I might review it if people really want me too and take pics of it too) Anyway, my favorite of the whole kit was the medium third dimension powder. It sets the liquid foundation and makes the look flawless. I have to say that I used the concealer like Jen applied it over the eyelid and sadly because I have oily lids I can't rely on just that I have to wear UDPP. The precision powder is really finely milled, Jen was not lying on that description. I can compare it almost to SSC ProLucent Sheer Matte Pressed Powder which I have and keep in my purse for touch ups. I really like it for the oily areas of my skin really does the job. I did not use the precision powder to set my concealer maybe I'll try doing that when I try the Tan kit.

Overall the KIT is an excellent value and just the powder foundation alone is worth the whole price of the kit. I'll post again once I have had a chance to put the tan kit.

Did you guys like it??? What did you not like about it? What would you change? Would you keep at least one item?? I want to know your thoughts??

Oh and these DO NOT have the rose scent that the ProMinerals does. I was not paid by SSC to review these kits.

SSC Colors of the Season Winter 2010

It's that time of the year where my SSC autoship order has arrived. If you love neutrals then this is the set for you. I'm happy with it all except the Roses lipstick. When you see the picture it does not look Rose it looks more like Red. I'm more of a neutral lipstick kind of girl and my favs from SSC are Monte Carlo and Catwalk. The eyeshadows are gorgeous neutrals that can be worn year round. Sand and Stone which are the two lightest colors are very similar. Sand have more of a cream color and Stone is more peachy cream. Mocha is a gorgeous brownish with sparkle and Earth is a matte dark brown which I love. I can use this as an eyeliner, smokey brown look and I might try it as a brow color also. The eyeliner is basic black nothing to special and the neutral lip pencil is also one of my favorites. The lipgloss in Sand Peach is the basic Peachy Pink gloss that can be worn with anything, either on top of a lipstick or on it's own. It also comes with the Profection concealing stick. Mine is in Medium, I took a pic of the one I had along with the new one and they seem the same to me. I purchased my previous one with a kit last year and it was not called the Profection stick but I don't really remember. I don't think that the color or ingredients have changed they look the same to me. Just an FYI for you on that.

It also came with the Medium Foundation and a backlight highlighter. I did not take pictures of those because if you look at my blog you can see pic of those posted previously. The blush is gorgeous in Cupid however I don't know why this time it came in a smaller size. The size sucks because it's really hard to get your blush brush in there and make an even application. I wish they would go back to the blush container that had another lid so that the product would not go all over the place. I have only ONE blush like that. And last but not least it also came with a retractable buki brush that will come in handy for all of my mineral foundations.
Overall it's a good buy and I love getting these every season. Let me know if you have questions. I will try to do a makeover on my nieces featuring this kit so that you can see the colors. I know some of the swatches might be hard to see because two of them are really light. Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think by leaving me a comment.
